A WOMAN has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death.
Police were called to a house in Priory Avenue, in the Westleigh area of Leigh, on Saturday afternoon after paramedics found the man slumped in a pool of blood.
Mark Kenyon, aged 27, was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary for treatment to a single stab wound, but doctors were unable to save him. It is believed he was stabbed with a kitchen knife.
Detectives arrested a 40-year-old woman at a separate address in Leigh shortly before midnight on Saturday on suspicion of murder.
On Tuesday the woman, Anne Marie Waters, whose address was also given as Priory Avenue, was charged with murder.
After the incident an alleyway at the rear of Priory Avenue was taped off as scenes of crime officers worked at the front of the house, which was covered with a tarpaulin.
One resident said: "The first we knew anything was wrong was when the ambulances turned up, followed pretty quickly by the police. I didn't know the guy although I'd seen him about."
The family of the victim have issued a tribute to him.
It says: "Mark was a much loved son, brother, father and grandson. He will be missed by all of the family, especially his baby daughter.
"The family just want to be left alone now to grieve in peace."
