A FUNDRAISING quest by staff and regulars of a Ramsbottom pub to support the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital has hit its target of topping more than £3,000.
The Rose and Crown in Carr Street, run by Chris and Christine McClung, has spent the last ten months hosting a variety of charity events including an auction night which raised up to £1,500 for the Pendlebury hospital.
Other activities have included a sponsored parachute jump, a sponsored dance and two quiz nights. The pub also joined forces with the nearby Cottage Tandoori restaurant for an Indian night, with all profits from the meal donated to the pub's charity.
Landlord Chris said: "Our target in March was to reach £3,000 for the hospital and we have now raised over that. The support has been amazing and it shows that this pub really is at the heart of the community."
Roger Elliot, area manager, added: "Chris and Christine have made an enormous contribution to the pub in a short space of time and have come up with some great ideas to raise money for their charity. They are a great asset to Thwaites and I wish them luck for all the forthcoming events."
