A BUSINESSMAN has been jailed for ten weeks after stopping his car and punching another motorist in a road rage incident.
Kieron Johnson (51) of Eight Acre, Whitefield, punched Craig Marshall in the face after the pair confronted each other in Manchester Road, Bury.
Mr Marshall received a bloodied nose and lost a tooth during the incident on September 4, 2004, Bury Magistrates Court heard. The argument was a result of Mr Marshall overtaking Johnson.
Johnson claimed he had acted in self-defence, but at a trial last month he was found guilty of assault and driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.
Mr Nick Freeman, defending, asked the court to consider suspending any sentence due to the detrimental effect a custodial sentence would have on Johnsons construction business and his family.
But district judge Mr Alan Berg said the assault had been so serious that it had to be punished with a sentence of ten weeks in custody.
Johnson was also fined £400 for driving without consideration of other users, disqualified from driving for four months, and ordered to pay £450 costs and £500 compensation.
