ABOUT 500 jobs are to be created after planning permission was granted for a new multi-million pound superstore in Greater Manchester.
Swedish furniture giant IKEA plans to open a new store in Tameside in October.
The four-storey building will be built on a former United Utilities depot on the corner of Wellington Road and Oldham Road in Ashton town centre.
IKEA is planning to recruit the majority of staff from the region to fill a variety of posts, from sales and checkout assistants to managerial-level staff.
