FIREFIGHTERS spent hours battling a blaze at an industrial estate in Prestwich.
Fire broke out at Mount Heath Industrial Estate 7.10am on Wednesday with up to 80 firefighters tackling the blaze.
Ian Bailey, of Greater Manchester Fire Brigade, said: "There has been some concern about asbestos in the roof lining, but it is at its lowest possible concentrate.
"The danger with asbestos is it has extremely fine fibres and people can breathe these in, but this seems to be coming off in flakes."
Neighbouring properties, including a squash club and the Fairways Lodge Hotel were evacuated.
Fire investigators were today examining the cause of the blaze and remained over night at the scene to control the smouldering embers.
