RESIDENTS are to be given the chance to decide how £60,000 is spent to transform their estate.
People living in Mosley Common will be consulted after Wigan Council received the lottery cash to pay for an environmental project in the area.
Ideas which have been put forward include a clean-up scheme, landscaped areas, better play facilities and nature trails.
The council is inviting residents to a Planning for Real event to look at the suggestions and put them in order of importance. Andrea Marshall, from the councils planning department, said: "As a former coalfield community, Mosley Common is benefiting from funding that can give the area a chance for an environmental makeover.
"We have already asked people for their ideas. This event will look at all the suggestions put forward, arrange them in order of importance and need to the community, and decide what is practical and feasible.
"We want people with a positive attitude who want Mosley Common to stand out to come along and let us know what they think."
Residents are invited to Lindale Hall, in Lindale Road, from 7pm to 8pm on Thursday, January 26. Light refreshments will be provided.
Andrea Marshall and John Latham, tenant participation officer for Wigan and Leigh Housing, will attend.
The project must be completed by October, 2006.
The Wigan Transforming Your Space programme is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and North West Coalfield Communities Regeneration Programme.
