TYLDESLEY Probus Club member Jack Pendlebury took members on a trip along the Fylde coast from Fleetwood to Blackpool.
He presented some of the history of the area including the fact that Fleetwood had a rail link from Preston in the 1830s and hoteliers in Blackpool provided a free stagecoach service from Poulton.
The Knott End ferry began in 1893 and Blackpool's tramway in 1895 was run by its own generator.
The Tower, built in 1894, stands 518ft and has a sway of 3ft. Blackpool was the first town to have electric street lighting and the illuminations started in 1912 with the Pleasure Beach following in 1925.
