I DON'T think my week could have gone much better. Well, perhaps if I had been the punter who won £25,000 on Xavi Alonso scoring from inside his own half I might have had an even bigger smile on my face.

But, apart from that, I've got no complaints.

It may sound a peculiar statement, but I think Tuesday night's win at Tamworth was an even bigger result than our success at Grays Athletic.

I say that because of the position we're in now and the conditions we played in with the strong, swirling wind.

Plus Tamworth is always an intimidating place to go to, and we had never won there before. We even got knocked out of the FA Trophy there as well.

It was a big test of character for the lads, and they delivered.

Whether my reverse psychology had any impact on them, I'm not sure. But before the second half kicked off, I got all the players together and told them I didn't think they were going to win.

Tamworth scoring when they did was tough on us. I tried to call their bluff with what I said, and in the second half we were excellent.

We have a squad full of young, fit energetic lads, and going forward we have more than anyone else in the league.

It will do Paul Mullin the power of good to get two goals in two games, and he hit the post right at the end as well.

He knows he should be further up the goalscoring charts than he is, but people are scoring around him.

But on a personal level, there is still time for him yet to get up there.

If he gets himself on a bit of a run now he will climb those charts.

You know what you're getting from him season in season out. He's a 20-odd goal a season man and he's got his standards and his targets and he'll be searching to get up there.

We've got a bit of a break from the league this weekend with our trip to Carshalton in the Trophy and we'll be going there to get into the next round and stay on this winning run.

Michael Welch and Gary Roberts will be missing from that game through suspension but that will give us the chance to utilise the squad a bit more.
