STAFF at a Worsley accountancy firm were on the ball to win a grant from the Sport England Lottery Fund.
The grant of more than £35,000 will be used to encourage employees at Champion, in High Street Walkden, to get active and is part of Sport England North Wests £1 Million Challenge. The challenge, launched in May last year, is aimed at combating rising levels of obesity and inactivity among workers. Firms have to submit a one year activity plan, including financial details.
The 150 employees at Champion will have the chance to participate in sport and physical activity during their working day.
A full programme of initiatives to keep the team healthy will be implemented throughout the year.
Gym membership subsidies, regular health-checks, sponsored walks and fresh fruit in reception are just some ideas.
Operations director Rachel Ward Lilley said: "Health in the workplace is a very serious issue and every employer has a duty of care to help promote and retain team wellbeing. Well certainly be putting the money to good use."
