EVERTON RESERVES 1, Wanderers RESERVES 1: Mark Ellis scored his first goal in Bolton colours to earn Wanderers Reserves a well-deserved point against Everton at Southports Haig Avenue on Tuesday night.
The Academy defender scored with a brave diving header on the hour to cancel out Gary Naysmith's first half opener in a game Everton started well but which Wanderers might have won.
Wanderers, who fielded one of their youngest second string line-ups, came under early pressure with Victor Anchiebe hitting the woodwork with a header before Naysmith headed home Lee Carsley's cross on 24 minutes.
Bedi Buval tested Everton keeper, Iain Turner, just before half time and, after Elllis' leveller, Jimmy Phillips young side went on to finish strongly with suibstitute Leslie Thompson squandering a glorious chance two minutes from time.
Wanderers: Howarth, Hill, Jamieson, Whitehead, Fojut, Ellis, Sinclair, Sissons, Buval, Smith, Mountford (Thompson 55 mins).
