From newspaper reports, it seems that bird flu has become an epidemic among the poultry in Turkey.
Three children have died, and dogs that had eaten two dead turkeys in the street have also died, proving it can be passed down the food chain.
Many of the public in Turkey are still not aware of the dangers. The government in Turkey seems to be ignoring the spread of the disease, yet within two hours two other children were confirmed to be infected in Ankara.
This is very serious and we should be taking steps now to close our borders from all meat imports and visitors. You cannot close your borders to wild fowl, but ignorance and inaction in other countries will allow this to become the pandemic we have all feared.
