THE family of a young father who died after being stabbed in the chest have paid tribute to him.
Mark Kenyon, aged 27, was found slumped in a pool of blood at his home in Priory Avenue, Leigh, on Saturday afternoon.
Police and paramedics were called to the terraced house at 3.40pm after reports that a man had been stabbed.
Mr Kenyon was rushed to Wigan Royal Infirmary but doctors were unable to save him and a murder investigation was launched.
A 40-year-old woman from Birkenhead, Merseyside, was arrested by detectives at a separate address in Leigh shortly before midnight on Saturday on suspicion of murder. She was being questioned over Mr Kenyon's death.
Officers were granted a warrant for her further detention on Monday, enabling them to question her for a further 36 hours.
A statement issued by Mr Kenyon's family said: "Mark was a much-loved son, brother, father and grandson.
"He will be missed by all of the family, especially his baby daughter.
"The family just want to be left alone now to grieve in peace."
An alleyway at the rear of Priory Avenue remained taped off on Monday as forensic officers worked at the scene.
