DETECTIVES have revealed details of the getaway car used in an armed raid at McDonald's just before Christmas.

Two armed men burst into the fast food restaurant in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, shortly after 7am on December 22.

One of the robbers held a pistol to the head of a restaurant worker and threatened to kill him unless the staff opened the safe.

Police say the pair fled the scene in a white Peugeot 405, with registration K48 OHW.

They now want to trace the vehicle and discover where it was kept in the days and weeks leading up to the raid.

No one was injured in the robbery but the staff were left shaken. The masked man escaped with around £1,000 in a blue canvas holdall.

Det Con Gary Knox, of Bolton CID, said: "We would appeal to anyone who saw the car either before or after the robbery to contact us.

"It was parked shortly before the robbery on a grass verge near to the restaurant."

The first robber was white, aged between 20 and 30 years, around 5ft 11ins, plump, with a small beard. He wore grey trainers, possibly made by Adidas, and a pair of grey faded jeans. He carried the blue holdall and spoke with a strong Irish accent.

The gunman was also white, in his mid 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 7ins, thin with shaven hair.

He wore a pair of dark jeans and brown trainer-style shoes with a distinctive orange sole.

Both men were wearing illuminous three quarter jackets with silvery grey stripes and balaclavas.
