PRESTWICH Heys' Manager Adie Moran received the perfect Christmas present over the festive break, with the news that last season's skipper and top goalscorer Carl Lomax has re-signed for the club and pledged his future to Heys until the end of the season.
"I received a call from Carl on the morning of the friendly with Walshaw," explained Moran.
"He said he was not enjoying his football at Rossendale United for various reasons and wanted to return if he could.
"It is obviously a massive boost to everyone at the club and shows that we obviously do things right, plus the players can see we are a very progressive club and that there is the opportunity to pick up trophies with us, as we are still in with a chance of winning three.
"The squad at the moment is the strongest I have had in the three years I have been in charge, and with the likes of Carl, Daz Wardle, Mark Westhead, Abbid Uddin and Andrew Sensale all fighting for two places up front, you can see the sort of headache I am going to have.
"In fact we have competition for places all over the park and I just wish I could play them all, because their attitudes are superb and they have a great team spirit.
"The one area I would like to improve on is getting more people in to support us.
"That is not taking anything away from our magnificent supporters at present, but if we can get a few more like them it would go a long way to achieving our main goal, which is to take this club forward to the next few levels."
