FLEETWOOD T 0 RADCLIFFE BORO 1: Simon Kelly scored the only goal of the game as Radcliffe Boro booked their place in the next round of the Unibond Cup.
Barely four minutes had elapsed when Kelly headed home Gary Sampson's cross, but any thoughts of a Boro rout were quickly dispelled as the home side poured forward in search of an equaliser.
Andy Johnston was in superb form, making two fine saves from former Boro striker Phil Denney and midfielder Jamie Milligan in the opening 45 minutes.
Steve Foster had a dipping drive tipped over by Fleetwood keeper Andy Banks after 60 minutes, but Boro were forced to defend for the final half hour.
Johnston was again called upon to deny Ian Stevens and Joe Booth in the dying minutes.
