TRIBUTES have been paid to a mother of two killed when a car mounted the pavement and ran into her.
Ellen Newman, aged 46, died following the crash in Kearsley on Thursday - the day she was moving home from Market Street, Stoneclough to be closer to her family in Swinton.
She was hit by a blue Ford Fiesta as it travelled along Stoneclough Road.
The car hit Ms Newman on the pavement then smashed into a tree.
Ms Newman leaves two children, three grandchildren and nine brothers and sisters.
And the devastated family today celebrated her life, saying: "Ellen was a loving mum to her son and daughter and an adoring grandmother to her three young grandchildren.
"She was a well loved family-orientated person, was always the life and soul of the party and could light up a room.
"She enjoyed fishing, reading and other hobbies in her spare time. She was loved and will be sadly missed as a mother, daughter, sister and nanna."
Ms Newman was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The 20-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital suffering from minor injuries. He has since returned home.
