HOORAY! Someone has finally had the guts to stand up and say what the rest of us have been thinking for years. Well done Civitas (Bolton Evening Page 4, Tuesday, January 3).

That is the story highlighted in the Bolton Evening News about the vast wave of nonsensical political correctness that has done nothing, but help divide our country into sub divisions of people who might otherwise be harmonious when left to their own devices.

If we are to have a harmonious society, we should be taking example from the ways of the old colonial islands such as St Lucia in the West Indies.

Whilst on a holiday between early December and New Year, we had the privilege of being invited to a "White party" thrown by one of the island's successful land and property owners, a St Lucian himself.

This was a high society affair with hors d'oeuvres and wine served on trays by elegantly dressed waiters and waitresses. The format for the evening dress was whatever you wanted so long as it was white, much of it being donned by a tanned multinational guest list of natives from different countries all over the world. Natives of other countries who had all settled on the island.

The most interesting highlight for me was the mannerisms of another holidaying guest, a Scotsman from Dumfries dressed in traditional Muslim prayer dress with John Lennon-style glasses. I cannot imagine the PC brigade ever having allowed this party to go ahead in Britain.

In fact had this party been thrown here in Britain, with some guests looking like they were deliberately impersonating Ghandi or Bruce Lee, it wouldn't have surprised me if the police had raided this Hollywood-style palatial hillside mansion, claiming they were acting on information provided and arresting and holding us all for questioning under the Terrorism Act.

Another interesting fact is that St Lucia is also 74 places below the UK in the world league tables for gross national income and the rubbish collection service still manages to trek up each hillside mountain to the variety of residencies and empty the dustbins twice weekly.
