AN exhibition of the wedding day through the eyes of women across Prestwich and Whitefield is set to take place in February.
Organisers are looking for women to get involved in the event by sharing their experiences, memories and keepsakes.
Bury Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) is putting on the exhibition as part of its Healthy Living Initiative.
An evening event is planned for Thursday, February 16 and will include a fashion show, food, entertainment and a showcase of local agencies who provide services for womens development.
CVS development worker Mary Lavin said: We wanted to do something to celebrate women. We realised that talking about weddings is something that most women can relate to.
By gathering as many memories as possible, we want to put together an exciting event that appeals to all the senses. We want to involve women from across the borough to share ideas and donate items.
Wedding items donated will be displayed at community venues and libraries across the borough during February.
Mary is now calling for women to tell her about their experiences. What are weddings like in Muslim, Jewish and Christian communities? What was it like getting married during the war or in another country? Did you have an unusual wedding or did anything unexpected happen?
Any woman interested in telling their story, donating items, modelling outfits or getting involved in organising the event should contact Mary Lavin at Bury CVS on (0161) 447 8455.
