HIGH street furniture retailer, Walmsley Furnishing, has begun a closing down sale as it begins its transition to new owners.
The company was sold after going into administration on December 1, last year.
Walmsley's, which has a turnover of £40 million, has 100 stores throughout the UK, including Crompton Place in Bolton, Market Street in Farnworth and the Ellesmere Centre in Walkden.
The firm is based in Preston and has 360 employees nationwide.
Administrators at Deloitte sold the business and its assets for an undisclosed sum to Unibrook, a new firm led by private investors and Walmsley's former management team.
A spokesman for Unibrook said that all of Walmsley's 100 stores will remain open, but added: "This will be reviewed, along with the company's headcount, in due course."
Unibrook said that customers who have ordered and paid for furniture will "where possible" receive their goods. In cases where this is not possible, alternatives will be offered.
