A STALWART of Bury District Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) has stepped down as chairman.
Mr Ronald Schwarz was succeeded by Mr Peter Coope at the annual general meeting, held at Bridge Methodist Church in Radcliffe.
Mr Schwarz, who intends to continue serving with the CAB with which he has been associated for 25 years, said in his final report that there had been huge changes in the service, including the merger of three separate bureaux.
"We have moved into the electronic age to provide information and advice as a well as case recording. What has always impressed me has been the commitment shown by all my colleagues, in whatever capacity they work, to help other people."
Also at the meeting, Valerie Coleman, from the Citizens Advice national social policy unit, spoke about problems with tax credits.
