NEW signing Jamie Miller has admitted that Radcliffe Boro's style of football and the chance to partner Steve Foster up front were the major factors behind his switch from Ashton United writes Marc Higginson

Huddersfield-born Miller is returning from a severe injury that has kept him out of competitive action for the last year, but the 27-year-old thinks his woes may finally be behind him and is looking forward to a new start at the Inn2gether Stadium.

The much sought-after frontman said: "I'm delighted to come to Radcliffe Boro because they are one of the few teams who play football at this level and that is something I want to be a part of.

"I have spoken with Kevin (Glendon) in the past and I have kept in touch with him so it's nice to finally make the move.

"I can't wait to get back playing after a horrible 12 months with injuries. It has been a long haul but I'm finally there now and I hope I can help Boro pick up as many points as possible between now and the end of the season."

Miller will join Foster and can't wait to forge a partnership with a man who has scored 42 goals in 67 games over the last 18 months for Boro.

"Fozzie is a superb striker and is a real handful for defenders," said Miller.

"I have played against him when he's been playing for Radcliffe, Hyde and Stalybridge and he's impressed me every time.

"He's someone I will enjoy playing with because he knows where the net is. My best seasons have come when I have played with a fellow goalscorer, like with (former Boro striker) Phil Denney at Ashton.

"I played ten minutes as a sub against Ashton with Fozzie and I think we linked up well even then. I think it could really work - as long as he stays here!"

On the attributes he will bring to the team, the 6ft 2in powerhouse said: "I will bring strength and height to the team.

"I also think I have a good first touch and my scoring record has been very good in the past. I just want to get a good partnership going with the team."

Miller hopes to get back into training soon after being ruled out of the Runcorn clash with injury.

He said: "I have a slight tear at the top of my thigh, which I did when warming up before the Ashton game.

"I shouldn't have played after I did it but I was that eager to get on the pitch, I ignored it and aggravated it.

"I should be back in training next week, though, and be ready for selection about the same time.

"I'm a bit short of match fitness but I go to the gym three or four times a week and am in good shape. I think I will be back to some sort of level after just three or four games.

"I just can't wait for my first goal. It's been so long since I last scored!

On the future with Boro, Miller said: "We have a good set of players here and injuries have meant they haven't done as well as they hoped.

"We just have to get as many points as possible for the remainder of the season and then aim for promotion next year.

"Hopefully, I'll get a few goals between now and then!"

His manager Kevin Glendon enthused: "Jamie has tons of ability and is just what we need at the club.

"The only question marks are his fitness but he knows that and is confident he can stay fit and score us plenty of goals."
