John Coleman has insisted strengthening his Stanley squad during the January transfer window could be easier said than done.
Their three-point gap at the top of the Nationwide Conference is an attractive proposition for targets, and the Reds manager has admitted his hopes of bringing in a League One midfielder.
But he believes players may be deterred by having to fight for a first team place.
"I've made enquiries about two or three players and I'm waiting for the managers to get back to me," he said.
"The problem you've got is, if you're doing well and you're looking to bring a quality player in, are quality players going to want to come and sit on the bench.
"Maybe the carrot of being top might lure players from our league, but certainly players from leagues above it's going to be difficult to get them to come and do that."
