A REVAMPED residents' association is helping householders spring clean for the new year.
New Bury Residents' Association, which has just re-opened in George Street, after building work finished on a new £60,000 extension, has set up a "tool pool" club to help local people smarten up their homes and improve the area.
Club members can hire a range of DIY and decorating equipment for a snip of what it would cost them from the high street.
And the tool pool club is just one of a number of services staff at the centre are keen to publicise to the local community.
Association chairman Craig Weatherby said: "It's all about helping people improve their own environment.
"We wanted to start up a tool pool club so people could hire DIY and decorating tools like power drills, wallpaper strippers and carpet cleaners for a minimal charge and spruce up their surroundings.
"Not everyone can afford to buy these things or have somewhere safe to store them.
"It costs £3 to join the club and you can hire a carpet cleaner or a rotovator for £5 a day, with a deposit of £10. If you hired it from a shop it would cost you £30 to £40 a day and you'd normally have to put down a £100 deposit."
The centre also has a new kitchen and function room which can be hired out for £20 a day and it runs a breakfast club from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
New Bury Residents' Association will be holding an open day later this month.
