TWO young children and their grandmother escaped a blaze which swept through the lounge of their home.
The cause is still under investigation after flames destroyed curtains, a television and a Christmas tree in the property in Pilkington Road, Radcliffe.
Fire crews spent two hours at the scene after being called out at 3.15pm on New Year's Day.
A girl aged 11, a nine-year-old boy and their grandmother managed to get out of the house safely when the fire started. Although the blaze was confined to the lounge, the remainder of the property was affected by smoke.
