YOUNGSTERS have been given an insight into the skills needed by firefighters to free car crash victims and people trapped in fires.
The Prince's Trust volunteers were also given the chance to use special cutting equipment to help release injured motorists during a mock accident at Bury Fire Station. They also put into practice first aid skills which they have gained with the trust.
The Prince's Trust exists to help young people overcome barriers and get their lives on track. Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance, it helps 14-30 year olds realise their potential and transform their lives.
The trust, supported by Greater Manchester Fire Service for the past four years, focuses its efforts on young people who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
