AN elderly woman was showered in shards of plastic when a bus hit a shelter and shattered its roof.
The incident happened on Wednesday on Newport Street, Bolton, at around 1.15pm when a 36 bus accidentally collided with a bus shelter.
A 70-year-old woman, who was sitting in the shelter at the time, was left shocked but uninjured when the roof and the sides of the shelter smashed.
A spokesman for First bus said the driver had to drive around a taxi which was parked close to the shelter.
He said: "To get close to the shelter, the driver had to pull out and swing the bus in, and he just misjudged it."
The woman was checked by ambulance crews but was not injured. She was taken home by police.
The spokesman said they would be visiting the woman to check on her and to take her some flowers by way of an apology.
