IT WAS a case of hair today, gone tomorrow for Bolton Lads and Girls Club receptionist Rebecca Gillard.
The 30-year-old had a close shave when she lost her flowing locks in front of hundreds of youngsters and colleagues for charity.
She hopes hundreds of people who sponsored her and dozens more who donated money on the day will have helped her to raise £550.
"It's something I've always fancied doing so I thought it would be a good idea to combine it with raising money for charity," said Ms Gillard, from Halliwell.
"They were all cheering and clapping when it slowly started to come off but I think some of them were a bit shocked.
"Even I was surprised to see myself afterwards but I'm quite pleased with the result even if my head feels a bit cold."
Ms Gillard, whose hair flowed halfway down her back until Tuesday afternoon, has worked at the Lads and Girls Club for more than a year.
The cash she has raised will be handed over to bosses at the club to be spent on new equipment and running costs.
She added: "Through working at the club, I've seen what a worthy cause it is and how many youngsters it helps.
"I was only too happy to do what I could to help."
The cut was carried out by staff from Dean Cocozza's barbers, Deansgate, Bolton.
