A POST-mortem has been carried out on a man who was murdered in Radcliffe.
Martin Rankin, aged 37, died from head injuries, according to a Home Office pathologist.
He was attacked by a caller armed with a machete at a house in Glenvale Close, where he was staying, in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
Mr Rankin suffered serious wounds to his head and was taken to Fairfield General Hospital.
He was later transferred to Hope Hospital in Salford where he underwent emergency surgery, but he died on the morning of New Year's Eve.
A murder inquiry has now been launched.
