Pennine Acute Trust is warning staff, patients and visitors that the regulations will apply in buildings and grounds, including car parks.
The trust also runs the North Manchester General Hospital Rochdale Infirmary and Royal Oldham Hospital.
A six-month publicity campaign had been run to publicise the ban.
