THE cast of Farnworth Little Theatre is enjoying rehearsing the knockabout romp The Servant of Two Masters.
The classic Italian comedy, by Carlo Goldini, was developed from the commedia dellarte tradition of the mid-18th century, which contained many of the elements of todays pantomimes.
It pokes gentle fun at the ordinary people of Venice, bewildered by the pressures of convention and class.
The servant of the title is Truffaldino, an endearing idiot who gets himself engaged by two different masters at the same time.
The part is played by Gary Kennedy, an FLT regular and amateur magician, and some tricks are included in the show.
Geoff Millard is directing the production.
The play opens on Saturday, January 21. Telephone bookings on 01204 303808 can be made from Monday, January 9, between 5.30 and 7.30pm.
Tickets are £6 (concessions £4.50) Monday to Friday and £7 on the final Saturday. Three tickets for the price of two are available on Monday, January 23.
