JUSSI Jaaskelainen shrugs off praise, modestly pointing out "I'm only doing my job".

Even Sam Allardyce has taken to reacting to his super saves with a matter-of-fact: "He's doing what he is paid to do".

But Kevin Nolan bucked the Reebok trend when he hailed the Wanderers' Mighty Finn as "world class".

Jaaskelainen, who has produced the form of his career to keep 10 clean sheets already this season, pulled off two vital saves against Leicester to keep Wanderers in the Carling Cup last Wednesday and excelled himself with his breathtaking save to deny Robert Pires a certain goal in Saturday's Reebok victory over Arsenal.

Now grateful team-mates are queuing up to sing his praises.

Gary Speed admitted he was on his way back to the centre circle, convinced Pires would fire the Gunners back into it at 2-1, and Nolan could hardly believe his eyes.

But he was not altogether surprised. "He's been doing that all season," the Wanderers skipper said. "As I've always said, I believe he's not only one of the best in the Premiership, but one of the best in the world.

"And, hopefully, he will carry on and help us keep producing the clean sheets that are so important."

Jaaskelainen was rumoured to be a target for Manchester United as talks stalled over a new contract. But he erased those fears by signing a three-year deal in June, since when he has gone from strength to strength, turning Bolton into one of the meanest teams in the Premiership.

The shut-out against Arsenal helped Wanderers to their eighth successive home win in all competitions, enhancing their reputation as a force to be reckoned with on both the domestic and European fronts.

"That clean sheet was massive for us on Saturday," Nolan said.

"We are a team full of confidence in each other. We believe that when people come here to the Reebok they are not going to affect us and not give us as many problems as we give them.

"We believe now that we are creating a fortress here. People don't like coming here and we've just got to make sure that goes on throughout the season.

"That was our seventh game at home (in the Premiership) and there's only been one defeat."
