WITH reference to the story about the fly tipper on the M61 - this is absolutely disgusting. The guy must have no respect for himself, the environment or others.
People should consider the fact that the cost of surveillance, prosecution and clear-up is all paid for out of their taxes in one form or another.
Fly tippers have no excuse - they can tip for free at council recycling centres. Even traders, or those with vans, can get a free permit to use these.
The answer is simple -, confiscation of fly tippers' vehicles, anyone caught on CCTV or red-handed fly tipping has their vehicle taken (irrespective of who the registered keeper of the vehicle is) and the vehicle is then either crushed or auctioned off and proceeds used to clean up the environment.
Sounds pretty harsh, but I have had enough of paying for cleaning up after these people and seeing the mess in the environment.
