IT was not just the clothes that caught the eye of experts at Greece's first ever fashion week.

A male model from Bolton also found himself in the spotlight.

Former Manchester Giants basketball player Alix Rimmer, aged 24, was one of the top models chosen to take to the catwalk for the seven-day show in Athens.

And Alix was in demand by the country's top designers.

Alix's model looks were discovered while he was having dinner with his family in a restaurant in Greece, where he has lived for most of his life.

The Rimmer family moved to Greece when Alix was aged three.

He returned to Bolton to join the Manchester Giants six years ago, before returning to Greece to pursue a modelling career.

Speaking from Athens, Alix said: "A television producer came up to me and asked if I wanted to go on television.

"I started as a presenter and then became a model. It was very good to be part of Greece's first fashion week. There was a lot of international attention and I was chosen to model clothes by Greece's top designers."

Alix is considering coming back to the UK and furthering his career in London, but said: "I have been so busy here that I have not had time to really consider it properly." Proud mum Elizabeth Lambert, who now lives in Heaton, said: "He has had so many offers, and has even been asked to appear in soaps over there. But at the same time he is so modest. When he came to model a group of girls wolf-whistled him and he was so embarrassed.

"I keep telling him that his Mediterranean looks give him what it takes."
