Britain would move over to Central European Time, bringing in lighter evenings but darker mornings.

BOLTON MP David Young has called for tight controls on North West Water profits following their latest dramatic jump.

The Labour back bencher wants 95pc of any cash surplus in the company used to mend leaks and improve service rather than go into shareholders' pockets.

He was speaking as condemnation grew over North West Water's £30m half year pre-tax profit jump announced this week.

BRITISH car production is set to drop below the one million mark this year for the first time in 23 years. According to a new survey by a top economic consultancy group, output will stay below one million for the foreseeable future.

"The trend is clearly downward and this will be accelerated by the poor British markets expected next year and in 1982," says the Economic Models survey out today.

A TEXTILES firm is planning to rebuild a warehouse destroyed in a £1 million blaze at a Bolton mill.

The scheme to construct the warehouse at Lantor Ltd., in St Helens Road, is among plans received by Bolton Council this week.

In May a fierce blaze ripped through the steel and asbestos textile storage building at the firm's Rumworth Mill.

A DARING burglary, worked on very ingenious lines, is reported this morning from Bromley Cross, and should be taken as a warning to the general public. Some time between Thursday evening and Friday morning, the house of Mr. J. J. Greenhalgh, 224, Turton-rd, Bromley Cross, was ransacked by burglars, who must, from the details of the case, have been planning together for some considerable time, to make their effort a success, without raising the least suspicion.
