A house which blew up in a gas explosion and left a student badly burned is being demolished.
The mid-terrace property in Memorial Road, Walkden, was destroyed in the blast on Monday evening.
Tan Tram, aged 24, was blown into the street by the force of the explosion and suffered severe burns, but is now in a stable condition.
The Manchester University student is currently being treated in the intensive care unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.
His condition has improved and he is now described as "comfortable and doing well".
A gas ring is believed to have been left on in the kitchen and when attempts were made to light it later, the build up of gas caused a major explosion.
Building inspectors examined the damage and deemed the house unsafe, so they called in contractors to demolish it.
Paul Newton, group leader, building control at Salford City Council said: "The house was badly damaged in the explosion. The damage was worse at the rear. The explosion, which is believed to have come from the kitchen, blew the back part of the property into a neighbour's garden.
"It will take a day or two for the work to be completed. It is a slow process because it is mid-terrace property and we are keen not to damage the adjacent homes."
Memorial Road will remain closed until the demolition work has been completed.
