TEENAGER Hannah Elliott has hit the heights again after winning a prestigious title for the second year in a row.
Cadet Sergeant Hannah has been named Sports Cadet of the Year 2005 by the Air Cadets Regional Headquarters (North) for her sporting achievements within the 1832 (North Manchester) squadron.
Hannah (16), of Chapel Close, Unsworth, enjoys participating in all sports, not only within the Air Cadet organisation but also at club and school level.
She represents Bury Grammar School in tennis and netball, and recently completed the Great Manchester 10km run and the Race for Life 5km run to raise money for charity.
Her father, Flight Lieutenant Mark Elliott of the same squadron, said: "Hannah has been in the Air Cadets since she was 13, and she really enjoys it. She throws herself into every activity, even if it's something she doesn't like, and she really learns a lot.
"I was proud when she was named Sports Cadet of the Year 2004 but this year has been difficult for her and so I'm even more proud. Her mum Jackie was diagnosed with cancer in January, during Hannah's mock GCSEs, but she has concentrated on Air Cadets and her studies and really deserves this."
As well as winning the award, Hannah has been nominated by her squadron to be one of seven cadets from the UK to represent the Air Cadets in a visit to Singapore.
Cadets from all over the world will fly out to the island on Wednesday for the special trip. Anyone looking for more information about the Air Cadet organisation should call Flight Lieutenant Mark Elliott on 07753 681556.
