I WONDER how long it took the consultants to come up with a new slogan for Bolton?
If they had cared to venture into Westhoughton (or Howfen), they might well have heard of a folk group called The Houghton Weavers, and heard the opening lines from their rendition of "Sit Thi Deawn", a song with which the group has been associated for about 25 years.
"Eh Mon! Ah'm fain t'see thi, sit thi deawn, ... Ah'm allus glad f'see a Mon lahk thee".
Sentiments not so different from the "new" slogan.
Much better and appropriate wording on the town welcoming sign would have been, "Bolton, Lancashire", and let other people simply accept us as they find us.
