IS there no end to the proliferation of people who are so convinced that they know what is best for everybody that they are prepared to practically force us to follow their advice?
I refer to Bolton Age Concern Chief Officer Gareth Evans and his statement that all old people should muffle up in scarf, hat, gloves and thick woolly socks before leaving the house on these cold days.
His statement that if he sees any old folk out and about hatless he will approach them and tell them that they should be wearing one.
Well Gareth, apart from five years in Her Majesty's Forces I have not worn a hat since 1936 and I do not feel inclined to start now so be warned if you approach me in the town centre and tell me I should be wearing a hat, my reply will be politically incorrect.
