YOUNGSTERS in Bury have been given no excuses for dropping litter.
Bury Council is promoting its litter campaign by delivering its message to junior schools in the borough, and officers paid a visit to Holy Trinity Primary School in Cecil Street on Monday.
Enforcement officer Fiona Palubiak and Environmental Health Officer Mel Walsh attended the school's assembly to help raise awareness about the problems caused by litter and to encourage youngsters to put it in the bin or take it home and recycle it.
The duo has also been touring supermarkets with a "No Excuses" litter display and have been inviting people to ask questions about the litter laws and fixed penalties. Fiona said: "We've spoken to many members of the public and have managed to gain a valuable insight into local opinion on litter and other environmental crimes such as graffiti, fly-tipping and fly posting".
