Fraud in the public and private sectors cost the UK an estimated £16 billion last year, the equivalent of £340 per person, says a report out on Thursday.
Norwich Union said £1 billion was lost through fraudulent insurance claims on individuals' policies and £550 million on commercial ones. Card fraud totalled £505 million, while banking fraud reached £108 million.
