TWO breast cancer survivors have won a second battle - with their weight.
Forty-one-years-old Gaynor Green has shed five stones in just 10 months while pensioner Beryl Walker has lost 33lb since March.
Both are under the guidance of Weightwatchers' leader Louise Greenalgh and attend weekly meetings on Tuesdays in the Atherton Arms, Tyldesley.
Gaynor, who suffers from lymphoedema, as a result of her cancer treatment at Christies, followed her physio's advice to drop the pounds.
The condition causes swelling in her arm and he felt being slimmer would help.
A self confessed Pie Eater in both senses of the word, she joined the group with a friend from Atherton in January, and has since dropped five dress sizes to a svelte size 12.
And Gaynor, who was diagnosed with cancer nine years ago, couldn't be more delighted with her new way of life.
The mum of three said: "I eat more now than I ever did. I didn't have a sweet tooth but a savoury tooth and loved pies and sandwiches. Now I eat lots of fruit and vegetables
"I was always around 12 and a half stone but after chemotherapy in 1996, followed by radiotherapy and surgery for a partial mastectomy I went up to 16st 8lb and the drugs I take kept the weight on.
"I can't believe I would ever have been this size, but I still have another nine pounds to go to meet my 11 stone target.
"I have had to give all my old clothes away and now have a completely new wardrobe. My husband Roy thinks its fantastic. He has a whole new woman.
"I love the meetings, you get lots of encouragement and Louise is fantastic, she makes the get together fun. I shall continue to attend when I reach my goal.
"I feel absolutely fine now, I'm doing OK."
For Beryl, 62, of Cumberland Avenue, Atherton, who was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, it was second time successful.
She first joined a group five years ago but says she wasnt getting anywhere, losing a bit of weight then putting it back on, and packed in.
Still under treatment at the Linacre Centre, Wigan, Beryl joined the Atherton Arms set in March and has now lost 33lb by changing her diet totally.
A chocolate lover, partial to Dairy Milk and Cadbury's Flakes, she has turned her diet round to contain lots of fish and vegetables, turkey and "everything good for you.
With a target of 10 stone to reach Beryl has already gone down from a size 20 to a size 16 dress and is determined to reach her target.
A former darts player for Riley's she said: "My husband Kevin is chuffed for me, and so is my daughter Sheryl. This time I'm determined to make my goal and keep the pounds off. I have over three stones to go yet but Ill do it."
Louises classes take place each Tuesday with sessions at 10.30am and noon. For further information she can be contacted on 0161 643 5565.
