TEN-year-old Emily Owens, currently in year five at Greenmount Primary School, hopes to one day play football professionally.
She has been kicking a football from the age of three, and when she attended an after-school football course and was asked to join a new girls teams being formed by Woodbank FC.
She has developed quickly, at the end of last season she won the team's top goal scorer accolade and was also voted runner-up in the South Manchester Girls Football League player-of-the-season category.
During the summer her club recomended her to Stockport County FC and she was invited to attend its Centre of Excellence, where she underwent eight weeks of trials before finaly being offered a permanent place
She is now attending a 20-week coaching programme, part of The Football Association Talent Develpoment scheme. Hopefully this will lead to Emily being put forward for regional development squads.
Meanwhile, she will continue to play for the Warriors Under 11s, who are coached by her dad, Paul Owens, and are currently third in their league, being one of five girls teams at the club.
This is the Warriors' second season in the league, last year they won the Under 10's seaside tournament in Southport. An avid Manchester City fan, Emily has two sisters and a brother; Olivia aged seven and twins William and Hannah, aged one, who may well follow in her 'boot' steps!
