A MAJOR conference brought bullying under the spotlight.
Representatives from schools in the Leigh area converged on Haigh Hall on Tuesday for a day's conference as part of national Anti-Bullying Week.
Organised by representatives from various teams in Wigan borough the conference was aimed at reduce bullying and examined ways of responding to incidents.
Wigan Council's Strategic Manager for PSHE & C Sue Elliott, said: "In Wigan schools all children and young people are entitled to be educated in a safe environment, which enables them to enjoy their school experience and achieve their full potential. Finding ways to reduce the number of bullying incidents is an important step to achieving this goal."

Higher Folds Young Women's Group holding bullying awareness sessions and working to create a young person's anti-bullying charter for their group.
Bedford High School's Bullying Support Group is creating a display to raise awareness of bullying issues.
Youth workers discussing the subject with young people they meet.
