LIFEGUARDS from Bury are to swim through the night to raise money for a charity which came to the rescue of two colleagues.
Twelve lifeguards will swim for 12 hours - either individually or in teams of two - to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
And fellow lifeguards at Castle Leisure Centre are volunteering their services to help protect their colleagues.
Swimmers Mark Dorey said: "One of the lifeguards at the pool and a former lifeguard have both had heart surgery in the last year, and we thought it would be a good idea to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. It's a really good cause.
"Everyone's really looking forward to the swim, and because we're all quite competent swimmers, it shouldn't be a problem for us to swim for so long."
The swim will start at 8pm on December 10.
