FIVE generations of the same family came together to celebrate two very special occasions.
More than 80 friends and family gathered at Derby Ward Labour Club in Deane Road, Bolton, on Sunday to wish great-great-grandmother Alice Taylor a happy 90th birthday.
And they also welcomed the latest family member, Ethan Kia Perry, aged three months, who had been christened earlier in the day at St Mary's Church in Deane.
Making up the rest of the five-generation family was Ethan's mother, Nicola Grimshaw, aged 21; grandmother Linda Grimshaw, aged 41, and great-grandmother Jean Mullan, aged 65, of Chip Hill Road, Deane.
Mrs Mullan, who organised the double celebration, said: "Mum thought we were just celebrating Ethan's christening, but we wanted to turn it into a surprise birthday party for her as well."
Mrs Taylor, who lives in Halliwell, celebrated her 90th birthday on Tuesday.
Mrs Mullan said: "We spend a lot of time together as a family. Ethan, Nicola and Linda all live together in Deane and the rest of the family live near each other. Mum's been a widow for the past 12 years and has three children; nine grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and now one great-great grandchild, Ethan.
"She's very much the heart of the family. She's been a grafter all her life, starting off in the mills and she only gave up work when she was 75."
