THE Brixi Singers will be performing Handels Messiah at 7.30pm on Sunday, December 11, at the Church of St Peter and Paul in Pilkington Street, Bolton.
Originally written for a small choir, this oratorio is well suited to a chamber choir. Last year, Brixi delighted the audience at the Parish Church with their performance of this great work.
The soloists will be well known to many, having sung principal roles both in opera and oratorio with local societies. They are Jane Evans (soprano), Julie Mitchell (alto), Gary Davis (Tenor) and George Hulbert (Bass).
The choir and orchestra will be conducted by Richard Lea, who hopes to make this an annual event in the Bolton area.
The choir will close its 2005 season with a programme of seasonal music at Rivington Parish Chuerch by Rivington Music Society on Friday December 16 at 7.30pm.
Following a successful year the society is looking forward to a full diary of concerts in 2006, which will include a tour of Bruges in Belgium. Tickets for Messiah are available from Brixi Box Office 01204 306568
