WANDERERS fans dug deep in to their pockets to raise cash for a cancer charity set up by the son of club chairman Phil Gartside.
Andrew Gartside, who is recovering from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, set up the CANtreat cancer charity. The club's Supporters' Association held memorabilia auction last month and raised £1,200 when fans bid for 80 lots including goalkeeper Keith Branagan's signed shirt, worn at John McGinlay's testimonial match, which fetched £380.
A 1958 Cup Final Programme raised £105 and a limited-edition, framed and signed photograph of the current first-team squad sold for £160, while Frank Worthgington's last shirt as a professional player went for £50. The proceeds were handed over to the charity at a social evening
