A 53-YEAR-OLD man raped a 12-year-old schoolboy twice and then offered him £10 to keep quiet, a court heard.
Michael Barsky, of Higher Lane, Whitefield, denied two charges of rape when he appeared at Bolton Crown Court on Monday at the start of a four day trial.
Prosecutor Bernadette Baxter told the court that the defendant sexually abused the boy on Sunday, January 9, this year.
She said Barsky, who runs a furniture store in Cheetham Hill Road, called round to the boy's home when his mother was at work and assaulted him in her bedroom.
Mrs Baxter said: "The boy protested. Barsky said to him 'keep it a secret and I'll give you a tenner'."
The court heard that the boy told his mother later that afternoon after he had called the police himself to tell them what had happened.
