A BRIDE-to-be whose wedding in Mexico was ruined by Hurricane Wilma has praised generous Bolton people who have come to her rescue.
Plans for Zoe Lock's dream wedding at the beach resort of Cancun were left in tatters when the hurricane ripped through her hotel.
But after receiving a free replacement dress from Claire Bromilow, owner of Claire Louise Brides in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, she has been "astounded" by another generous offer.
Seamstress and baker Dawn Morris, aged 42, of Great Lever, has offered to make bridesmaids' dresses and bake the wedding cake.
Zoe, aged 27, said: "I can't tell you how amazed I am by all this. After my wedding dress fitting last week I was over the moon, and now this.
"It is incredible that people who don't even know me are being so kind.
"It is a real contrast to the way we're being treated by our holiday insurance company."
Zoe and fiance Neil Darwish, who live in Padiham Close, Leigh, had spent £10,000 on their wedding and honeymoon in Cancun.
But they were evacuated from their hotel three days after arriving and had to leave all their possessions behind, including Zoe's wedding dress.
Mrs Morris, who made her own wedding dress when she married husband Ian 24 years ago, said: "I read the article about Zoe and Neil in the Bolton Evening News and felt so sorry for them.
"I don't want any money for it, I am very happy to help out.
"And if Zoe and Neil want any help with the buffet, my daughter and I can prepare that too."
The couple are now planning to marry in February in the Manor House at Chester Zoo.
