FATHER Christmas paid an early visit to Bolton, much to the delight of local youngsters.
More than 150 children and their families queued at Barton Grange Garden Centre, in Wigan Road, to meet the great man and hand him their Christmas wish lists.
And family favourite, Stu Francis, who is playing Buttons in this year's pantomime at the Albert Halls dropped in with Cinderella to lend a hand.
Bolton-le-Moors Rotary Club which runs the grotto is hoping to repeat the success of last year's event which raised more than £2,500 for local childrens charities.
Vivien Eccles of Barton Grange Garden Centre said: "The grotto was opened for the first time on Saturday.
"It was wonderful. There was also karaoke and face-painting and the children really seemed to enjoy our festive display, which this year has loads of animated animals."
Rotarian, Brian Davies, said: "This year's money will make a real difference to needy children and young people in the Bolton area and we are delighted that Barton Grange has once again agreed to help us in our fund raising efforts."
Father Christmas and his helpers will be at the centre on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.30am to 4.30pm; every Friday in December from 3pm to 5pm and on Tuesday, December 20, and Thursday December 22, from 1.30pm to 4pm.
